While I love people and have a heart to serve others, seeking the admiration and stamp of approval of people is fickle and fleeting. ⠀
No longer putting such weight on what others think of me has allowed me to:⠀

-let my bold personality shine without fear of triggering others ⠀
-say what I mean and mean what I say⠀

-speak openly about my love for the Lord⠀

-free myself from the mental slavery that is self-doubt and imposter syndrome ⠀

-chase my dreamsss 🤌🏾

It takes courage to be the same person on the outside that you are on the inside, but there’s so much joy found through the revelation. The people that are ‘for you’ are waiting to love you just the way you are. There’s a tribe for every vibe 💯⠀

Out of the mouths of babes 🥹

There are many things that are important to us as parents raising young children, but one of our top priorities is teaching our children the necessity of having a personal relationship with God.

Some of the things we’ve been doing to develop a strong and early foundation:

1. Praying together—prayer and communicating with God is a perpetual part of our day. Sometimes it’s structured, like praying over our meals and at bedtime, but often times it’s as simple as thanking Him and praising Him in the natural flow of our conversations

2. Allowing our kid’s to see us praise—I’m a worshipper by nature and I love to dance and sing. Playing praise and worship music on our drives to activities and school fills their little spirits and changes the atmosphere at home. Oftentimes they’re playing with toys around my feet as I worship at home, but they’re SEEING it, FEELING it, and join in and dance around sometimes

3. Reading the Bible together and books about Jesus’ love for us-we read a lot and my son asks a lot of questions. He doesn’t understand the depth of many biblical stories, but he is developing an understanding for the deep and unconditional love God has for us. He’s beginning to understand the character of Christ and how important it is to model his own character in the way He instructs us

4. Fellowship with others-it’s not the easiest task to get kid’s up, fed, dressed, and off to church on Sunday morning, but it’s important that they understand that fellowship with other believers is important. My son is more excited at this time in his life to see one of his best buds every Sunday at church more than he is to hear the word LoL, but that’s OK. He’s excited to be in the house of the Lord!

5. Seeing God in all things-God is everywhere and in everything. We thank Him for the sunshine. We see the leaves changing on our walks and awe at the way God’s hand designed nature. We reflect on His goodness wherever we go.
